10Days Begins on Yom Teruah
10 Days – 2026
Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord.’ Leviticus 23:24 – 25
It’s the 25th anniversary of the tragic 9/11 incident that took the lives of so many and fundamentally altered, not only the skyline of New York City, but the way we live life in America. It was a major wake-up call to the nation. Initially, it brought many people back to church as they sought to understand what just happened. Sadly, that returning didn’t have long-lasting effects. But let this anniversary be a time when we remember what happened and ask some deeper questions.
It is no coincidence that we kicked off a time of 10 Days of worship and prayer seeking His face and stirring the longing for His return. Biblically, it is known as Yom Teruah or A Reminder by the Blowing of Trumpets.
Tishrei is the 7th month on God’s calendar. The three fall feasts occur during this month, making it a very important, holy season. Seven is tied to rest, shabbat, which is the first thing God says in this scripture, “On the first of this month, you shall take a rest.” Today is a sabbath day. He invites us, even calls us to cease from our labor and pull aside with Him, fitting for this 10 Day period. Enter into worship and listen for His voice. We can expect that as we quiet ourselves in His Presence, He will speak to us! After all, it was Him who set this appointment with us. It is His Moedim.
Next, the scripture says about Yom Teruah, this is a “reminder by the blowing of the trumpets.” The blast of the shofar is a deep, penetrating sound meant to awaken our spirits to attention.
The 9/11 event qualifies as an awakening to call our spirits to attention. We have been in this time of Awakening for a long time now, with the Lord methodically working in America and throughout the nations to expose the things that oppose His Kingdom rule and to call His people to align with Him to bring His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. Even in scripture we see that God often begins decades ahead of New Season to announce what is coming and to wake up the people. We are about to reach a crescendo in this call of Awakening by God Himself. That’s one reason to take this 10Days very seriously. We cry out to the United States and around the world, Awaken! Let your voice become that shofar!
Yeshua is also calling out to us to Awaken as His Bride. Matthew 25:1-13, the story of the 10 virgins is a perfect picture of what we are now experiencing. Yeshua wants intimacy with us. He wants us to surrender our ways and embrace Him and His ways. He calls us to examine ourselves and ask the hard questions….am I living to please my Bridegroom or to please myself. He is making us uncomfortable so that we can no longer avoid this question. Will we wholeheartedly return to the Lord?
Finally, the scripture says “Present an offering by fire to the Lord.” There’s a song that says, Lord, make me a House of Prayer and the chorus rings out, “May the fire on the altar never go out.”
Yeshua is looking for us to present ourselves to Him as an offering made by fire. As we live in Him and through Him, we are the fire on the altar. We willingly offer up everything that is extraneous to God’s Word and add it as fuel to the fire…. In this way, we honor the Lord and make space for Him to continually fill us fresh and new with the oil of His Spirit and the Love of His heart.
From the time God gave the 10 commandments to Abraham and set out a calendar of appointed times, it has never stopped being relevant. It is not some Jewish holiday. It is God’s heart for His people.
10Days ends on Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement. It is a solemn day of judgment when God says He will separate the wicked from the righteous. Are we living in the literal fulfillment of this High and Holy Day right now? Have you ever seen more wickedness and evil in the earth than what we have seen in the past few years? Everything is being exposed and God will not forget His promise to deal severely with the wicked. Yet to those that embraced the rest that Yeshua purchased for us on the Cross, He offers rest as it says in Heb 4:9-11 where He invites us to be diligent to enter into His rest, stop our striving and Trust Him with our lives. There is a new level of life in the Spirit that He is calling us to experience. It’s a new day. It’s a Jubilee season because Jesus is our Jubilee!
So let us respond to the call to Awaken, Repent, Return, Rest and Rejoice. May you enter in with a determination to set aside time each of these 10Days to consider this call and connect to His heart. Let all striving and human effort be released in exchange for entering His rest. God, would you pour out a fresh infilling of Your Spirit that releases the oil of joy for gladness and the peace that passes all understanding. At the end of these 10Days, may you be made new. God bless you in Yeshua’s name!
