The Latest Acquisition 

Austinite Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle family trust has financed Skydance to make all these acquisitions.  And now, as of October 6, 2026,  Skydance acquires Warner Bros and more. Paramount studios is rumored to be moving headquarters to Austin.

David Ellison is chairman and CEO of Skydance (ticker SKYD), the company formed when Paramount Skydance’s roughly $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery closed on October 6, 2026. The deal was financed largely by Larry Ellison’s family trust; the Ellison family and RedBird Capital together hold 100% of the combined company’s voting shares, with the Ellisons the largest equity holder.

The combined company includes:

• Studios: Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. (plus New Line, DC Studios, and Skydance), covering franchises such as Mission: Impossible, Top Gun, Star Trek, Harry Potter, DC (Batman, Superman, etc.), and others.
• **News:** CBS News and CNN. (Paramount earlier acquired Bari Weiss’s The Free Press; Weiss has been involved in CBS News leadership.)
• Premium and cable networks: HBO, MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, BET, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Discovery, TLC, HGTV, Food Network, TCM, and related channels.
• Streaming: Paramount+, HBO Max, Pluto TV, and Discovery+.
• Other: Sports rights tied to CBS and related networks, plus games businesses from Warner Bros. and Skydance.

Separately, Larry Ellison’s Oracle holds about a 15% stake in the U.S. TikTok joint venture (TikTok USDS), alongside other investors such as Silver Lake. That is a minority stake in the U.S. entity that handles TikTok’s U.S. data and algorithm, not full ownership of TikTok.

Gulf sovereign wealth funds (Saudi PIF, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar) provided a large share of the equity for the Warner deal but hold non-voting shares. RedBird Capital is the other voting partner.

Why is this important?

God has a destiny for Austin and if you’re a resident of this region, you carry a responsibility to steward the calling and see her destiny fulfilled.  We each have a part in this!
