President Trump Celebrates Reformation

November 3, 2026 / Written by Laura Judah

The Protestant Reformation was a movement against the false teachings in the Roman Catholic Church.  The two main issues were:

1) Depending solely on God’s Word to determine Truth and

2) selling indulgences, the practice of paying money to be absolved of sin rather than trust in the Blood of Jesus.

This primarily European movement, opened the way for those seeking religious freedom to come to America.  The message of the reformers was the message on which America was established.  Today, America finds itself in need of its own reformation, a return to Truth and to our first Love.

Careful study of the Word shows us that God didn’t only use those who believed in Him to be part of reformation efforts.  God often used secular leaders to open doors for God’s people to move in reforming culture.  God can use whoever He chooses.  Today, the state is not trying to control which gods a person can worship, there is freedom for man to choose.   However, John Adams stated, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”1   And James Madison wrote that our Constitution requires “sufficient virtue among men for self-government,” otherwise, “nothing less than the chains of despotism can restrain them from destroying and devouring one another.”2

There is however, an ideological division revealing those that no longer believe these basic tenets.  Islam wants to rewrite our constitution with Sharia law, Communism and Marxism want to control every member of society and take away our freedoms.  They want to change the very definition of marriage and what it means to be male or female.  They want to decide the terms on which babies are considered “human and alive” and on which older people are still worthy of living.  They want to play the role of god over the rest of the planet.  In short, it is the ultimate battle of Life vs. Death, Light vs. Darkness.  This is why we must have a reformation.

This is what makes President Trump’s Proclamation regarding Reformation Day so important.  As the leader of this nation, and even of the world, President Trump is the first  U.S. president to release a statement honoring this day.  His acknowledgement of this significant historical event is a sign that God has set in motion a reformation that must now take place.  Trump timed the release of His statement on Halloween, the darkest day of the year spiritually, that has its roots in honoring death, darkness and occultism.   Trump just called for Light and Life to fill this nation.  Jesus is the Light and Life of men!

Read His full statement below:

From the earliest days of our Republic, prayer and faith in Almighty God have stood as the foundation of our strength, the source of our unity, and the fount of our greatness.  This Reformation Day, I send my best wishes to the countless Christians across our country commemorating the Protestant Reformation and its enduring message of salvation by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Five hundred years ago, William Tyndale—inspired by the work of Martin Luther—advanced the Protestant Reformation’s devotion to Holy Scripture through the publication of the first New Testament printed in English, shaping the language of the Bibles that would fortify the faith and resolve of America’s founding generation.  The Sacred Scriptures helped form the religious convictions that formed our young Nation’s founding ideals of God-given rights and individual liberty, a spiritual inheritance we honor as we continue to reflect on 250 glorious years of American Independence.  The Bible remains a cornerstone of our Nation’s character and upholds our steadfast devotion to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Guided by an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, my Administration is working to restore the moral and religious foundations that have sustained our Republic for generations.  As President, I will always support citizens of faith and defend their place in the public square, honoring the enduring role of our churches in strengthening families, serving communities, and preserving the core values that have anchored us across the centuries.

As Christians across our country unite in faith and fellowship this Reformation Day, I send my heartfelt prayers for a meaningful celebration and encourage each of you to draw renewed strength from God’s Word as we carry forward the blessings of faith and freedom throughout our beloved Nation.

We must return to biblical principles because that is what works!  God wants to prosper His people so that those living among us who do not know God will see the glory of His ways. This is how He wants to demonstrate Himself to others to woo them in.  He is a God of Life, Liberty and Love.  When we model His ways, His blessings are released into society.  When we do things His way, then our Laws and justice system will reflect Him.  Our families will be blessed because we accept morality and ethical behaviors.  Our businesses and economy will prosper because we walk in integrity and honesty.  Our educational system will teach us to apply wisdom and develop a God-honoring work ethic.  This will make America great!

As God’s people, let us consider once again, what does reformation mean in this Kingdom age?  Where has God gifted you to serve?  Have you responded to His call?

Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.  1 Corin 10:11
