While there is a huge segment of Gen Z still lost in the weeds, there is another group that is rising and shining. They have come out of New Age, numerous addictions, abuse and rebellion. They have a strong sense of identity and calling. They recognize they’ve been given a voice and they’re not shy to use it. God’s army is arising from this demographic.

As part of an Ekklesia Group in Texas working with Austin Awake and others, we have had the privilege to get to know many of these rising ones. The fact that they’re welcoming the wisdom of the older generation is a sure sign that God is leading this movement. Their zeal for becoming is not greater than their cry for the knowledge of God. They are asking for prayer, healing, deliverance and training. It’s a beautiful synergy of the generations, something that has been on the prayer lists of so many for years!

Barb and her team of intercessors has been invited to pray at many of the Gen Z events. What a joy it is to see the heartfelt responses of these young people as they line up for prayer and seek forgiveness and reconciliation. They’re showing up at the Healing Room and booking their appointments for deliverance sessions, but on the weekends they are evangelizing on the street – doing “Run for Jesus”, preaching and baptizing at Barton Creek, feeding the homeless and setting up tents to worship our King. They are making Jesus famous. Their witness is bold and their message is without apology.

As the older generation, we must take note of what God is doing. Don’t be fooled by the reports that young people are a lost cause in America. God is pulling them out of the fire and taking what the enemy meant for evil and turning it for good. Our part is to pray and protect this movement. We can’t allow what happened in past generations to occur again. We are being given an opportunity to steward well a new collaborative effort, laying down our preferences and being driven by unity for the building of the Kingdom in our city.
