The family was God’s first war unit. He put Adam and Eve together in the garden and told them to be fruitful and multiply; to increase in number and substance. His vision was to produce a Bride for His Son and to do it through families with a destiny and purpose. Why do you think the enemy works so hard to destroy families? You can see it all around…he uses every tool available to break up this beautiful family structure so we will never fulfill the plan God had for us. What can we do?

First, we can seek out and recognize the specific destiny the Father had planned for our family. Ask Him what assignment we have in the earth as a family, how each member contributes to that assignment, how we are to work together to see that destiny manifest. Consider how your generations interact – three generations working together to express the Kingdom. Speak of this often letting your children know they are part of something much bigger than themselves.  This gives children a great sense of security and belonging.

Second, honor each other’s gifts and talents. Speak God’s promises and blessings over your family.  Identify key promises from the Word and declare them as your family vision statement.  As parents, we can ask God to reveal the plan he has for our children and focus our prayers toward that end. Consider the strength of those focused prayers as your children grow. How different this perspective is from just reacting to their behaviors or thoughts without understanding of His plan!  Teach them their true identity, giving them strength to press on and overcome obstacles.   Model the love of the Father to them and show them their value.

Third, plead the Blood of Jesus over your family and stand in unity in spiritual warfare against the enemy’s attempts to bring destruction to your family. Teach your children how to go to war, they are not too young to understand this and to receive God’s strategies. Help your children to grow up with a Kingdom mindset and understand their authority in Christ.

Finally, join with other families to contend with them and for your territory – Cities, states, nations. Build your faith to believe what God has said regardless of your present circumstances. God wants strong families that know how to overcome.  Strong families build strong communities that shape culture.  Strong families are the basic building blocks of His Ekklesia, His governing body in the earth!

God is for your family, to heal, reconcile and restore.  This is the season for restoration.  Hold on to Him and believe – He is restoring families!
