Healing

Healing is the mandate of Luke 4:18 Ministries. When Jesus walked into the temple to teach, they handed Him a scroll, it could have been any scroll, but it was the Isaiah 61 scroll. It says, “He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written.” Jesus had a word for that day and those who were there. He declared about Himself, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord anointed me to bring good news to the poor, He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim release to the captives and freedom to prisoners…” He spoke Isaiah 61:1-2 because He wanted to make it clear that His mission was tied to His identity. This is still our mandate today, not just for healing ministers, but for all of us to take part in because He says later that He gives us all authority to do the things He did. He didn’t say He was giving it to a small group of people. Instead, He released authority and anointing for you and me.

It wasn’t until I went to Argentina in 1997 that I saw signs, wonders and miracles manifest. It was almost shocking to me! At that time, Argentina was in a political struggle much like the world is in now. People were dying, children were dying or being stolen, a lot of women were suffering depression from all the loss. We were praying for them, and they were finding joy! They were being released from depression and trauma. When freedom came, they danced. There is nothing that brings more joy than to see somebody completely transformed by the power of prayer and the presence of the Lord. Nothing is better than that!

Jesus came to destroy the work of the enemy! The enemy’s work is sickness and infirmity. His work is mental illness. The enemy works to take from us and our families those things that God has given for our enjoyment. How can we enjoy what He’s given when we are sick and infirmed? Jesus calls Himself the Great Physician and says He came to absolutely destroy the enemy’s works. Nowhere does it say we should suffer for Jesus’ sake. He wants us healed and made whole so that we can be about our Father’s business. He wants us to walk in the fullness of the destiny He created for us. He healed all diseases, He healed lepers, He gave sight back to the blind, He delivered from demons, He set those with mental illness back in their right minds. He flat out delivered and healed those who came to Him. He wants us to do the same thing today!

Jesus wants us to use the power and the authority that He has given so that not only are we walking in abundance, but we are passing it on to others. We are Kingdom people who serve a great King, we represent Him wherever we go. Perhaps He is asking you to go out for the first time and lay hands on someone believing that they will be healed. Nothing will give you more joy!

There is nothing too difficult for Jesus. He is not limited to healing only physical diseases, but He also heals all the things we call mental disorders. We’ve seen them all disappear; schizophrenia, bipolar and manic depression all flee when Jesus walks into the picture. He heals the heart, the mind, the emotions, and the body. He is so good at doing all those things. Often, we find that when He heals a broken heart, physical diseases are healed as well.

So, I encourage you to seek out the scriptures that tell of Jesus’ mighty acts of healing. Follow Him as He walks through villages healing all who were oppressed by the devil. Be reminded of how He has given you authority to do just as He did and pray for someone today. Watch Jesus show up and do what only He can do. He is the Healer, but He gives us the honor to partner with Him and experience the joy of His healing power.
